Yoga and Ayurveda are intimately woven together throughout the texts of the Vedas. The Vedas are ancient Indian spiritual texts that were compiled over a period of time beginning approximately 3,000 years ago in the Himalayan region of India. These texts are considered to be divinely revealed and are comprised of oral esoteric knowledge transposed into written form. The practices of Yoga and Ayurveda are considered to be complementary modalities for living a healthy, balanced and happy life.

When practiced together, Ayurveda and Yoga techniques offer an individual many ways to increase health, well-being and vitality while living in balance with the natural rhythms that surround us. Both Yoga and Aruyveda acknowledge and respect the profound connections between our mind, body and spirit. Practicing balance and moderation are two of the primary keys of Aruyveda. This concept of balance and moderation has its roots in the Buddhist concept of Devanagari that arose during the same time period in India. Practicing Yoga asanas, meditation techniques and breathing exercises in balance with the rhythm of the day, week and time of the year is also one of the core proponents of Vedic wisdom.

One of the primary focuses of Aruyveda is eliminating toxins from the body and mind through the practice of panchakarma. According to Ayurvedic wisdom, expunging toxins from the body on a yearly basis helps to re-invigorate the body by maintaining a healthy metabolism and keeping the digestive processes efficient while reducing strain on the liver and kidneys. Ayurvedic theory espouses the belief that when the energy channels in the body or mind are blocked, disease results. Many of the traditional Ayurvedic techniques focus on unblocking these vital channels and restoring optimal energy flow. The use of stream and sweating is also employed by Ayurvedic doctors to help dissipate blockages in a patient’s energy system.

Releasing tension and blockages throughout the energy system of the body-mind complex is complemented beautifully by a regular Yoga practice. Yoga asanas, whether they are vigorous or restorative in nature, help to release deeply-held muscular tension and increase balance and flexibility. There are even some Yoga practices that are done in a heated room further enhancing the purifying aspect of the asanas. Combining Yoga practices with the great depth of wisdom found in Ayurveda will deeply support a Yogi or Yogini in creating and maintaining physical and emotional vitality, health and well-being throughout the course of his or her lifetime.

A common area that many women would like to improve is their stomach. It is interesting then that many eastern spiritual practices put great emphasis on the lower abdomen as being the centre of our whole body. This is in sharp contrast to the western way of thinking which treats the stomach as merely a repository for food. Unfortunately perhaps it is this lack of respect for their bellies that causes westerners to so mistreat the area. They feed it unnatural processed food and neglect the important muscles located their. Yoga for women is often the perfect counterbalance to these bad practices. It strengthens the abdomen leading to a host of benefits. Central among these are weight loss and a fewer lower back problems.

Taking care of the abdominal area is vital to staying healthy. Typically when exercising this area we just concentrate on the abdominal stomach muscles. This may make the abdomen superficially stronger but does not address the organs within. Yoga does have the effect of strengthening the abdominal muscles but it also goes beyond this as well. It also positively affects the stomach, spleen, liver and intestines which make up the abdominal organs. With well functioning organs your body is better able to gain nutrition from the food it consumes and expel the waste it produces. This is turn leads to a healthy body and assists with weight loss. Yoga not only makes the abdominal area look better it actually makes the body better as well.

The yogic postures for the abdomen incorporates all aspects of the discipline. The movements are slow and conscious. You will use proper breathing through out the postures. And you will make use of the power of sound. What is key is employing movement which is of a high quality. This is in contrast to many modern abdomen exercises which over emphasis the quantity at the cost of the quality of the exercise. On each exhalation you will gently tighten the front of the abdomen. This will help to work the effected area. Breathing is a very important part of yoga and it is important to fully concentrate on this when practicing the postures.

A common yogic exercise for the abdomen is known as the push down. This exercise can either be done as a floor exercise or seated in a chair. You begin the exercise by laying flat on your back with your knees bent. Your arms should be at your side with the palms facing down. You will do this exercise in time with your breath. As you exhale move your lower back down to the ground and hold for a count of five seconds.

Like many drugs and other addictions, there are a number of misconceptions about alcoholism and alcohol rehab. These can be unhelpful and confusing.

Here we aim to tackle some of the myths around alcoholism and alcohol rehab.

Alcoholics do not have any willpower

Some people mistakenly believe that alcoholics are simply weak-willed and just can’t control themselves. However, research shows that there is a lot more to it than this. Prolonged heavy drinking can actually cause changes in the brain and in addition the body can become physically dependent on alcohol. Some alcoholics experience withdrawal symptoms when they don’t drink – these can include shaking, vomiting, sweating and hallucinating. Alcohol detox and alcohol rehab can help people to get through these symptoms with the help of supervised medication.

You must drink everyday to have a problem with drinking

There is a common misunderstanding that alcoholics are drunk everyday. However, binge drinking can be just as dangerous. Some alcoholics binge drink regularly or go on ‘benders’ but they might not be drinking every single day.

Binge drinking at the weekend may start as alcohol abuse but can certainly lead to alcohol addiction and is still very dangerous for health and wellbeing.

In addition, some alcoholics may not always appear to be drunk – regular heavy drinking can lead to building up a tolerance where more and more alcohol is required for the effects to be felt. Heavy drinkers can often drink a surprising amount of alcohol without showing any signs of being drunk.

Someone with a job can’t be an alcoholic

Some people believe that there’s no way a ‘real alcoholic’ could hold down a job and other responsibilities. However, this isn’t true. It is possible to be a “high-functioning alcoholic” and still manage to make it to work each day.

Drinks after work, ‘liquid lunches’ and staff nights out can all make things hard for a problem drinker and indeed some people drink to escape from the pressures and stresses of the workplace.

I’m not an alcoholic because I can stop drinking whenever I like

Merely having to justify your drinking in this way may signify that a problem is brewing. If you think that your drinking may be developing into an addiction it’s a good idea to try and cut down and seek help. Alcohol treatment is available such as prevention programmes which help you analyse your drinking and pinpoint any drinking triggers.

There are a number of myths and misconceptions about alcoholism and alcohol treatment. Sometimes these myths can cause confusion and lead to people not seeking the help that they need with their addiction to alcohol.

Who needs alcohol treatment?

There are a range of misconceptions around what constitutes being an alcoholic and who benefits from alcohol treatment. It’s true that alcoholics will benefit from alcohol treatment but those whose drinking is in the early stages of becoming problematic may also benefit.

One sign that someone is addicted to alcohol is that they can’t stop drinking through their own choice. People who are developing a problem may feel that they are finding it more difficult to stop once they’ve had a drink – action at this stage can prevent full-blown alcoholism developing.

Alcohol prevention programmes are aimed at those who are concerned about their drinking, even if they are still in control. These alcohol treatment programmes can help individuals understand how much they drink and if they have alcohol triggers. They can also help to address any developing problems.

Dependency

Some people think, mistakenly, that addiction to alcohol is purely a physical thing. It’s true that alcohol treatment such as alcohol detox addresses the physical addition to drink. Alcohol detox uses supervised medication to minimise the worst effects of withdrawal such as nausea, sweating, trembling and even hallucinations.

However, physical addiction is only one part of alcohol dependency. Giving up drinking permanently means also addressing the emotional and mental aspects of addiction. For example, many people drink because they’re stressed or depressed and these issues need to be tackled before a recovery is possible.

Challenging stereotypes

Some of the negative stereotypes around alcoholism can also mean that people with drinking problems are less likely to seek help. For example, some people mistakenly believe that alcoholics drink everyday, are always drunk and could not hold down a job or other responsibilities. However, this isn’t true. They may also think that alcoholics are a certain type of person either. This isn’t true either – people with alcohol problems come from all walks of life and have a wide range of personalities and lifestyles.

Moreover, alcoholics don’t necessarily drink alcohol every day and may well hold down a job and still maintain relationships and a family. This doesn’t mean, though, that they’re not still endangering their health and wellbeing. Some alcoholics binge drink but then don’t drink on other days. However, prolonged heavy drinking can cause withdrawal symptoms which lead to daily drinking. Some people drink to stave off withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and shaking. Alcohol treatment such as alcohol detox addresses these symptoms by ridding the body of alcohol toxins whilst tackling the worst reactions with supervised medication.

Bath salts are one of the newer and more dangerous drugs to arrive on the scene. Although their name does not imply dangerousness, these they are comprised of MDPV, or methylenedioxypyrovalerone. There are also individuals who are making synthetic versions that have similar effects. Regardless of how bath salts are manufactured, they tend to be easy to find and potentially very dangerous to use. Although they cannot be sold legally in many states, they continue to be available online.

What does one experience when taking bath salts? Individual responses vary considerably, but there are some common experiences. Because they are a stimulant, they tend to lead to increased pulse and blood pressure. Some users have described the physical sensation as a “panic attack that won’t end”. Individuals who have used bath salts may appear extremely agitated and they may believe that everyone is out to get them (paranoia). They may experience hallucinations (see things that are not there). Of particular concern is that individuals who use them frequently experience suicidal thoughts. There is no drug test that can consistently identify bath salts, so if a person has used and arrives in an emergency room or drug rehab center with extreme agitation, there is no easy way for ER staff to know that the person has been taking bath salts. Emergency rooms are finding that often times, sedatives are not effective in helping these patients and there have been cases where patients are so agitated and violent upon admission to the ER that they have to be sedated with antipsychotic medication or even general anesthesia.

Although many of the side effects of bath salts wear off after the patient has detoxed at the rehab center, it is noted that some of these individuals have ongoing thoughts of suicide. There also seem to be significant cravings for more. It is remarkable that a substance that can cause so many negative symptoms can also lead to severe cravings and a strong desire to use it again.

There are cases of highly functioning individuals, professionals in their fields, who have started using bath salts and in a short period of time have become chronically suicidal and lost almost everything in their lives (e.g., careers, families). Although the effects are similar to drugs like methamphetamine, it appears that bath salts are leading to more severe paranoia and suicidal thoughts, as well as the potential for long term after effects. It is relatively common to find a person who has not used for months but who continues to have some paranoia and suicidal thoughts, even if they never experienced these symptoms prior to bath salt use. Ongoing use of bath salts can cause long term, possibly irreversible damage to your emotional health, not to mention increased risk of suicide and aggression towards others.

Many drug rehab centers are becoming the front lines in managing bath salt addiction. If you or somebody you love is addicted, find a drug rehab center near you and call for more information.

Teen drug abuse became a serious health problem in United States. It is hurting the healthcare system, burdening the economy, and causing millions of deaths every year. Of the many causes that promote drug abuse among teens, lack of parental supervision is a major one. Teens should be guarded properly by their parents as they are still immature.

Since, early intervention leads to effective prevention of this unhealthy habit, parents should identify drug abusing habits in teens and take preventive measures. Parents can take help of home drug testing kits which are effective and easy to use.

In this article, we will discuss about teens and their vulnerability to drug abuse; how to identify teen drug abuse and how important are drug testing programs at home to prevent teen drug abuse.

Teens – vulnerable to drugs abuse: Many scientific studies have already proved that teenagers are more prone to risk taking and are vulnerable to drug abuse when compared to adults. This typical behavior of teens during adolescence is because of the major changes in parts of the brain that are responsible for functions such as self-control, judgment, planning, organization, and emotions. Since teen brains are not yet fully developed, they cannot take proper decisions and fall victims to unhealthy habits like drug and alcohol abuse.

Signs and symptoms of drug abuse: The primary step towards prevention of drug abuse in teens is to identify their unhealthy habits. Prominent changes, both in their behavior and in physical appearance can be noticed even at the early stages of abuse. Following are the warning signs:

Physical and emotional changes:
• Red eyes
• Finding difficulty to speak
• Sudden fall or rise in weight
• Lack of hygiene and showing less interest in personal grooming
• Aggression and arrogance
• Depression and irritation

Social and behavioral changes:
• Dissociation from old friends and acquiring new social group
• Sudden anger or depression
• Poor attendance and academics at school
• Spending time lonely
• Abnormal odor in breath or clothing
• Pipes, needles and other suspicious substances in their room

Importance of home drug test kits: The moment you see the signs that indicate drug abuse in your teen, it is the time to confirm drug abusing habits using reliable methods. They are useful devices for the parents to confirm these unhealthy habits in teens. They are simple, easy to use, provide instant and accurate results, cost-effective and above all ensure privacy. Some multi-panel drug testing kits can detect multiple drugs of abuse at a shot.

Best drug test methods to implement: When it comes to home drug testing, urine and saliva tests are considered to be the best methods. There are two other methods – blood and hair tests also, but they need special devices and expert supervision, hence are not recommended for home testing.

Urine test can detect the drugs in your teen’s system up to three days after use. If you believe that your teen has taken drugs during the last few days, then this method is effective in offering accurate results. However, it is necessary to check that your teen is not providing fake urine sample which can lead to false results.

Saliva drug testing is an ideal drug test if you suspect that your teen abused drugs on that particular day. These kits can detect drug use up to 48 hours.

Need for random drug testing: If you are conducting drug tests on your teens at regular intervals, following a regular pattern, your teen may notice the pattern and either try to manipulate the sample before the test or stop abusing drugs few days before the test. Hence, practicing random drug tests is always an ideal way to identify the drug use which effectively helps in detecting the drug abuse among your teens. Random testing makes teens say ‘NO’ to drugs as they know that you can conduct drug testing any time at home.

Home drug testing kits can be considered as effective solutions in controlling and preventing drug abuse in your teens. So, make sure that you have some of them at home to test your teen to help him stay away from drugs.

Vertical sportsmen such as basketball players, footballers, martial artists, bodybuilders, boxers and other active bodies need not resort to any performance enhancing substance to improve their athletic performance. How to jump higher like never before within their chosen field of sports calls for an appropriate vertical training program. The use of drugs such as anabolic steroids otherwise referred to as anabolic androgen steroids is currently discouraged in exercises and sports. The obvious reason is due to the side effects of these drugs that can cause permanent damage to the athletes.

It maybe true that one may improve his or her ability to leap vertically with these types of substances, but this is just temporary. What an athlete must be concerned about is the long-term side effects of these drugs. In the first place, these types of activity enhancers have expiry dates. Just try to imagine yourself when they have lost their potency. How do you feel or look like when the expiration period occurs? For sure unexplainable fatigue and stress will take over, and your physical appearance will definitely look haggard and unattractive. You will also feel weak and look too old as well even if you are still in your youth.

It cannot be denied though that there are physically well-built athletes who still take the risks of doping in order to project a more muscular, firmer and bigger figure. Some athletes engaged in vertical related activities may find performance enhancing substances effective but the apparent result leading to dependence is very inimical to their well-being. Those instances stated are just among the most obvious side effects of these types of drugs particularly anabolic steroids to an athlete. Why not find the jump manual with proven techniques on how to jump higher?

There is a considerable number of helpful jump manual reviews on the net if you surf. If you are more concerned with safe and popular effective strategies which can guarantee for an improved vertical, a good vertical mastery training guide, excluding the use of performance enhancing drugs, would be great. Always remember that athletes learn the science on how to jump higher in basketball particularly through trainings that include diet programs not drugs.

Diet should not be construed as not eating. How can you soar vertically with a weak body? How do you expect to build strong bones and firm muscles when you lack the most essential nutrients vital to a healthy body? Therefore, food intake is very important with the kind of meal plan to fill your need. You must always consider the nutritional values that come with it. All these are incorporated in a comprehensive vertical mastery training guide which also provide for some customized instructions to suit your needs.

In order to prevent the use and abuse of drugs during sports events, the World Anti Doping Agency keeps the list of known performance enhancing drugs. These are substances which are surreptitiously used in most major athletic organizations include all anabolic agents consisting of anabolic androgen steroids, precursors and all which are hormone related.

Major sports organizations are trying to be equipped with state of the art testers and facilities due to rumors on the formulation of new highly sophisticated undetectable substances in order to protect the athletes.

Feel free to post your questions, comments, recommendations or suggestions on how to jump higher in basketball without drugs involved. Thank you for reading this article.
